Best Singapore Travel Guide

Our recommendation of some Singapore budget hotels

Hotel accommodation in Singapore is generally expensive compared to it's neighbouring countries. This is partly due to our higher standard of living here as well as our stronger currency. For our classification of mid range accommodation under Singapore budget hotels, we would refer to those 3 stars and 4 stars hotels with price range of $50-$150 per night.

When our kids were younger, we would check into a local hotel in Singapore and spend a weekend as our annual vacation getaway :) This is a convenient option for us to have sometimes away from home and yet enjoy the feeling of being a tourist.. and more so for the very practical reason : to spare the babies and us the hustles of of long distance travelling.

Changi Village Hotel

singapore budget hotels in the eastThis 4-star mid range hotel is located about 20 mins by car from Central Singapore. Although it's location may not be ideal, but it's facilities, stylish and very clean rooms , superb rooftop pool and spa and not forgetting it's excellent rooftop view more than make up for it's shortfall in location. This is our family's favourite hotel providing us with quiet weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of city. It is 10 mins bumboat ride away from Pulau Ubin, an island that good for some family action time like cycling, hiking and exploring this undeveloped island.

There are many eateries around the Hotel, there will be no lack of choices for both local and western food.

one of singapore budget hotels - TEHThe Elizabeth Hotel

Located less than one kilometer from Orchard Road shops, the Orchard MRT station and Mount Elizabeth Medical Center. A jogging path that spans the Botanic garden, four kilometers from the hotel, runs past lakes, restaurants, souvenir shops and the National Orchid Garden.
.

Robertson Quay Hotel

Located right at the heart of Robertson Quay, near to many night entertainment spots. Good for taking a nice cool walk in the evening along the Singapore river. Although hotel itself can be a little far (15mins walk) from MRT stations, taxis are readily available and it's a very convenient mode of transport for tourists.

Tips : Many hotels give special weekends rates to locals (sometimes as much as 50% discount). If you are a resident looking for a short getaway without leaving Singapore, contact the hotels and ask for their best rates.

You may also find many mid range budget hotels in the Geylang, Chinatown and Little India areas. Just a little notes about these areas :

**Geylang - The red light district of Singapore. Hotel rooms can be turned around a few time in day, so you may want to have a second thought about staying there :)  In my opinion, they not be best choices for single woman or family with young children.

**Little India area - Little India can get very crowded especially in the evening and over the weekends. This is a place where the foreign contract workers/labourers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh congregate after a day of hardwork. If you like to explore this ethnic quarter, it may be a good idea to find an accommodation around that area if you don't mind the crowd.
