Singapore River Walk
If you enjoy walking tours in Singapore, the Singapore river walk cum Colonial Districk walk is one not to be missed. Here are 3 common routes using taken. You can plan you walk depending on how much time you have.
Remember, do put on some sun screen, sun glasses, cap, (or bring umbrella if you like), a pair of comfortable walking shoes and a bottle of water and off you go :)
Route 1 (2.5 to 3 hrs) - From City Hall MRT Station, take Exit A, turning right to follow Exit H to the Esplanade, which is the beginning of route 1. Join a 45-mins guided tour that run at 11am and 2pm, Mondays to Fridays; and at 11am on weekends and public holidays. Major landmarks covered : Esplanade Park (along Esplanade Drive), Tan Kim Seng Fountain. Going along Connaught Drive to see Cenotaph, Indian National Army Monument, Lim Bo Seng Memorial, Anderson Bridge.

Emerging from the underpass, turn right to walk along Empress Pl to reach the Dalhousie Obelisk, Sir Stamford Raffles statue and Raffles Landing site. Across the Elgin Bridge is Boat Quay, one of Singapore's popular night spots with many restaurants and pubs. Next, head down to Asian Civilisation Museum, Fullerton Hotel and finally cross the Cavenagh Bridge to get to the Merlion Park.
Tips : Best time to start Route 1 and 3 is in the late morning or early afternoon, to take advantage of the guided tours that some attractions offer. Admission is free to the after 7pm.
Although you can take these walks on your own (be sure to pick up a walking map from the Singapore visitors Centres), however, it would be more fruitful if you engage a local walking tour guide that can share with you a lot more. Route 2 (2 hours) - From Clarke Quay MRT Station, use underground passage to Exit B, emerging at Merchant Road. Use the pedestrian crossing to reach Masjid Omar Kampong Melaka at Keng Cheow Street. Walk along Cumming St. to reach Tan Si Chong Su Temple. Turn right to reach Riverside Village and Riverside Point, Singapore History Museum, and crossing Read Bridge to get to Clarke Quay, Fort Canning, Battle Box. Turn right and walk back to Clarke Quay to see the G-max Reverse Bungy Jumping and finally settle down for a nice dinner at one of the many restaurants along Clarke Quay.
Tips : Start Route 2 in late afternoon so you are in time for a nice dinner at finishing point , the Clarke Quay.
Route 3 (40 mins) - From City Hall MRT Station, Follow Exit B to North Bridge Road. You will spot the St. Andrew's Cathedral. Walking along Saint Andrew's Road, on your right is the City Hall, Supreme Court. You will see the green field on frount of city Hall which is the Padang with the Singapore Recreation Club on the left end. Across from it is the Singapore Cricket Club. Along old Parliament Lane, you will see The Art House and Parliament House on Parliament Pl. Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall is just around the corner.
