Best Singapore Travel Guide

Let's visit Malaysia

The country Malaysia is made up of East and West Malaysia. West Malaysia is directly north of Singapore accessible via road. East Malaysia refers to the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak and is accessible only by air.

My family love to visit Malaysia whenever we have some holidays or long weekends. No only it is cheap holiday for us with our stronger currency, we also find the country rich in cultures and characters (with many natural attractions like beautiful lakes and beaches, highlands, waterfalls, jungles etc). It has a much relaxed life style as compared to Singapore and is perfect for a retreat from the hustles and bustles of city life.

These are some of the best family vacation destinations if you are planning to visit West Malaysia.

Johor

Perhaps the most visited state of Malaysia by Singaporeans. Johor is inked by a causeway to Singapore and is the sourhternmost state of Peninsular Malaysia. A favourite shopping destination for Singaporeans as they flock in there to shop, eat and play on the weekends.

Visit Kukup (a fishing village) for it's inexpensive seafood,
Muar - for it's seafood and durian (king of fruits)
Desaru for it's beach resorts, scuba diving and snorkelling
Trekking at Gunung Pulai and Mount Ophir
Visit Kota Tinggi Waterfalls and Hill Resort
Firefly viewing - cruise along Johor river at night and see the magnificent natural phenomenon where the fireflies light up the swampy area. Contact the Johor Tourist Information Centre at 607-2242000 for more information
